The Emerald Star
We really wanted to give the folks coming from out of town a taste of Seattle for the wedding, so we decided to charter a boat for a lunch cruise on Lake Washington. We cruised from 10 to 1 on the Emerald Star and it ended up being a perfect day. The weather was perfect. As Sachiko would tell you, I really wanted Mt. Rainier to be visible, but it wasn't. I do love to see that mountain.

This is me giving a toast. About half way through the cruise, the captain came on the loudspeaker and said "Everyone please come up to the second floor deck for a toast." I thought to myself "Wow, that's nice someone is going to give a toast, I wonder who it is?" People were asking me what was up and I could only say I was looking forward to it. A minute or two later, Sachiko comes over to me and asks a pertinent question. As it turned out, the person giving the toast was me.

This was my view. I hope that this was just after the toast, because it seems like everyone is drinking at the moment. It was nice to see that folks weren't scared to hit the bloody marys so early in the day.

This is almost the whole fam-damily (as my Dad would say). My nephew Casey told me about a funny discussion between he and my brother David. The boat had just gone by the boathouse that was used in the movie Sleepless in Seattle, which got Sara and Shannon (girlfriend and fiancée, respectively) very excited. So much so that the guys decided that it must be the equivalent of guys going to Yankee Stadium or meeting a playmate in person.

This isn't our photo, but I thought I'd give folks a look at what Mt. Rainier looks like from the lake. It would have been nice. :)
