Stitcher is Safe

I just got a call from David Stitcher "Nolamite", a friend of mine from college who lives in New Orleans. He made it out of the city before the storm and is currently in Panama City Florida. He's doing OK, but has a eye infection on top of everything else. He doesn't know what happened to his neighborhood, but he has his dogs with him. He's heading up to North Carolina soon.

He said he talked to some friends who decided to ride out the storm. They told him that it was a big mistake- an absolutely terrifying experience and now they are marooned in their own home with no food, no water, beer, etc.

What's happening down there seems pretty unbelievable. I thought the city had come through the storm OK initially, but it's not OK now. Now I'm thinking that this coud be one of the worst things to happen to an American city. My thoughts are with everone that whose life has been affected by Katrina.

This is us with Dave in New Orleans in 2003.
