Where I’m from…

It all started in Kernersville, NC- where I was born and bred. My family still lives there, but I moved away in 1991. I moved to Seattle in 1998 from Charleston, SC and told folks that I wanted to be involved in the Internet and healthcare. I had just finished my Masters of Healthcare Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.

What I do…

After moving to Seattle without a job, I was hired by a company called HBS Inc., which became Solucient, LLC. In 2000, 2 years after being hired, I proposed and created the Solucient Online Community program- which provides online community forums for over 4900 healthcare professionals.

After three years as the online community manager, I have now transitioned to being an independent consultant. My consulting practice is called Common Craft.

Other Interests

Though online community management/building is my core of experience, I’m interested in things like: weblogs, pop and hip-hop culture, wireless technology, innovation, home improvement, trees, humor. I live with Sachiko, my fiance' and my dog Amos in the Central District of Seattle. Back in NC, my family owns Blue Ridge Fish Hatchery.

The bottom line…

I feel lucky that I know exactly what I want to do in my career and this site is one manifestation of my interest in finding and experimenting with new ways the Internet can bring people together.
